Being the first show of the nautical season, the Yachting Festival is the most important event of the nautical sector in Europe. Boaters from all over the world gather here to present their world novelties in preview.Unfortunately, this year, due to the recent increase in Covid-19 cases in Europe, with France among the most affected nations, the organizers of the show have decided to cancel the great festival. The final blow to the event was the recent and completely legitimate application of the new rules on major events imposed by the French government. This week, the French government extended the ban on demonstrations of any kind with more than 5,000 people. This move has had a major impact on the show’s ability to move forward, particularly as the Cannes Yachting Festival typically draws around 50,000 visitors a year. The show was to take place from 8 to 13 September and welcomed over 420 ships, moored both in the Old Port and in Port Canto.Further updates will follow.
